The service allows residents to capture an incident
image with a mobile phone and send it to our control centre.
The data and image is then stored on a database to allow a detailed
history of incidents in a particular area to build up.
The database is overlaid with a complex
mapping filter which allows RSLs and police users to analyse
geographic and time patterns. The filters allow controllers
to more accurately quantify incidents by area, easily identify
patterns of incidents (for example by day and time), and from
the analysis allocate resources to the best effect.
For residents the service creates an instant
and permanent event log that is as easy to use as sending a
text message. The usual problem of persuading residents to
maintain an event logging and recording journal is largely
overcome as the reporting process is so quick and easy. Further,
the data is automatically collated for the controller in a
useable format and can be made available on the internet for
residents to monitor.
The system has been specifically developed
for use in ASB case building. Individual photos can be linked
allowing a detailed history of a person,
and the ASB events he or she has been involved in, to be pulled up
with photographic evidence in a matter of seconds.
